Wildcats Rep Softball
VMSA encourages and supports a "rep" (repertory) program, also known as “B” for those who want to excel at the game or who don't find the competition at the House level “C” to be stiff enough. Rep teams typically:

  • practice in the off-season

  • practice twice weekly in season

  • play more games: 20-24 in league play plus tournament games,  starting in early April

  • participate in tournaments (often 3-4 per season)

  • play in an interlock with surrounding Associations, so half the games require travel to places like Richmond, Surrey, North Vancouver, and Delta

  • compete in District Playdowns and Provincials

VMSA tries to form "B" teams from U11 to U19, with up to 2 teams per division divided by birth year, subject to interested coaches and players. VMSA currently does not have any “A” teams.

Cost
Rep softball is more expensive than the House league. Costs include VMSA fees, personal equipment and uniform, and team costs. Budgets vary by team and are generally decided by the coach in consultation with parents. Rep teams may choose to fundraise to cover some or all costs. If the costs of softball are a burden to families, we encourage them to contact the VMSA to discuss options.

How to Sign Up for Wildcats
Tryouts for our Wildcats occur during the first or second week every September. Specific details (day & time) regarding our Wildcat tryouts are sent out in an email to our VMSA families, posted on our website, and/or Instagram account.  Occasionally, there is an opening on a team in January and our coaches look to fill this.  If you are interested in a specific team, please contact the head coach directly and/or email president@vmsa.ca.
